As well as reducing CO₂ impact and eliminating redundant hardware, having one larger monitor removes the split-view limitations caused by bezels between two smaller screens. “For our customers, it comes down to fewer devices on the IT buyers once evaluated displays by screen size, resolution and price. But no longer. Today, procurement decisions increasingly hinge on sustainability credentials, total cost of ownership and whether a monitor can replace multiple devices on a desk. This change has been accelerated by the introduction of TCO Certified, Generation 10 which stipulates that products must have less packaging material; use more recycled components; meet stricter energy efficiency standards; and, for the first time, carry a minimum five-year warranty. The upshot should be fewer resources consumed in production, less waste generated at end of life, and hardware that remains in service for longer. For IT buyers, TCO Gen 10 certification provides reassurance that a product has been independently verified against strict environmental and social standards and is likely to have a lower total cost of ownership and require fewer replacement cycles.
