Q: If you could change one aspect of your job, what would it be and why? A: I wouldn’t change much to be honest; I really enjoy my job and have built many great relationships with customers and suppliers over the years that I count many of them as friends. If I had to choose something, I would probably spend more time with customers and less time on administration and internal processes. Q: How do you spend your week – time on phone, face to face meetings with customers etc.? A: No two weeks are ever the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most about the role. A typical week will involve a mixture of customer meetings, phone calls, Microsoft Teams meetings and supporting our sales team. My preference is always to spend time face to face with customers, as that is where I believe we can add the greatest value by understanding their challenges and helping them identify opportunities for improvement. I also spend time working closely with our vendor partners to ensure we remain up to date with the latest products, services and technology developments. Q: What would make your job easier? A: Faster decision-making would certainly help. Our team invests a significant amount of time understanding customer requirements and developing tailored proposals, so quicker feedback -whether positive or negative – allows everyone to move forward more efficiently. Even when a proposal isn’t successful, constructive feedback helps us improve and better serve future customers. www.copytext.co.uk excellent support. We also work with other specialist manufacturers where specific customer requirements demand it, such as large-format printing. In terms of software, our main offering would be PaperCut, primarily the cloud-based version Hive, we have found it to be one of the most effective print management products available, especially where a customer has printers from more than one manufacturer. Ultimately, our customers rely on us to provide solutions that are reliable, secure and cost-effective, and our vendor partnerships help us deliver exactly that. Q: What are your customers most interested in currently? A: Cost and high quality local service remain the most important factors in the buying process. However, we are seeing growing interest in cloud print management, cybersecurity and sustainability. While we continue to focus on delivering excellent service and competitive pricing, we have expanded our offering to include print management software, document workflow automation and cartridge recycling programmes. Customers increasingly want solutions that not only reduce costs but also improve efficiency and support their environmental objectives. Q: How have you changed/are you changing business operations to exploit new opportunities? A: We have invested heavily in the support and IT elements of our business over the last few years to help us meet the increasingly complex needs of our customers. Also, our product offering has expanded, we now offer business telecoms as well as print and mailroom equipment. Businesses now rely on fast, stable internet connections and quality voice calls which we provide from global suppliers but with good old fashioned local service. Q: When selling MFPs, what are the most popular software solutions you provide and why? A: Our most popular software solution Q: What do you see as the biggest challenges facing channel businesses today? A: I would say the biggest challenges are the commoditisation of hardware and changing customer requirements. For example, customers are printing fewer pages than they did ten years ago but have more complex scanning requirements. As businesses review their infrastructure, we can help them improve efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen security. Despite a reduction in print volumes, we have added more devices to our base in the last 18–24 months than at any other time in our history. That success is a testament to the fantastic team we have at Copytext, from sales and administration through to service and support. Q: Which OEMs do you partner with and why? A: In terms of print hardware, we primarily partner with Sharp and Lexmark. Our relationship with Sharp goes back just over 30 years and we have been a Lexmark Business Solutions Dealer for 14 years now.
